Chemistry² belongs to Science², a non-profit association whose sole motivation is to revert back the funds raised to science (see mission of Science²).

Chemistry² is a "Gold Open Access" journal supported by the payment of an Article Processing Charge (APC) of €100 (+VAT if applicable). You only pay the APC if your article is accepted for publication.

Once an article has been accepted for publication in Chemistry², an open access licence should be agreed and completed.

Industry-standard Creative Commons (CC) licensing for open access publication in Chemistry² is proposed, which offers more flexible terms for re-use and distribution of a work than a standard licensing to publish; furthermore, it enables the authors to fulfill requirements of funding bodies.

When an open access licence is accepted, the copyright is retained by the authors or their employers. Therefore, any re-use of the work published should be fully and accurately attributed to the original authors.

Two Creative Commons licences are available. Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. More information is available on https://creativecommons.org/

Authors will have the choice between two CC licences, depending on requirements of their funder(s) and research institute(s) or their personal preference.

By agreeing to a CC license, the authors may:

• deposit the PDF of the published article in an institutional or other not-for-profit repository
• share the PDF of the published article publicly via personal websites or scholarly communication network(s)
